ŠKODA deliveries rise in October 2012

Worldwide deliveries grow 1.2 per cent to almost 78,000 (year ago: 77,000). Worldwide sales grow by 7.2 per cent from January through October 2012 to a new record high of 795,100. Strong growth in China and Russia continues.
ŠKODA AUTO achieved a 1.2 per cent growth in its deliveries in October 2012. Deliveries to customers in October numbered 78,000 as against 77,000 one year ago. This is ŠKODA’s best figure ever for October, scoring 22,900 deliveries in China. Worldwide, ŠKODA’s sales rose 7.2 per cent to a record level of 795,100 from January through October 2012 (January through October 2011: 741,800).

“Despite a continued difficult market situation in Europe, ŠKODA is staying the course worldwide,” says Werner Eichhorn, ŠKODA board member for sales and marketing. “We intend to continue to grow solidly, and this is why we have initiated the greatest model offensive in our company history. The ŠKODA Rapid is all new on the market, with the new ŠKODA Octavia to follow in early 2013. Our new models will crucially contribute to implementing our growth strategy successfully even in trying economic times,” says Eichhorn.

In Western Europe, ŠKODA delivered 27,600 vehicles (October 2011: 29,200). ŠKODA’s market share in the first ten months rose to over three per cent (January through October 2011: 2.8 per cent). In the same period, deliveries totalled more than 303,700, two per cent less than a year ago. ŠKODA saw the highest Western European deliveries growth in October 2012 in Great Britain, a plus of about 69 per cent for a total of more than 4,600 (October 2011: 2,700).

In Eastern Europe, ŠKODA raised deliveries in October by 11.5 per cent to a total of 11,600 (October 2011: 10,400). After ten months, ŠKODA’s 2012 market share in Eastern Europe is more than four per cent (January through October 2011: 3.5 per cent), deliveries having risen 29.2 per cent to over 111,100. ŠKODA again posted strong growth in Russia: deliveries to customers there rose 17.0 per cent to 8,300 in October 2012 as against 7,100 in October 2011. In the first ten months, ŠKODA grew by 40 per cent in Russia to a total of around 80,100 (January through October 2011: 57,200).

ŠKODA’s deliveries in Central Europe in October totalled 9,800 (October 2011: 10,800), translating into a January through October 2012 growth of 1.8 per cent in the region for a total of more than 103,800 (January through October 2011: 102,000) and a market share of about 18.8 per cent. This makes ŠKODA the market leader in this region, and the company would like to expand this position further in Central Europe. In its home market the Czech Republic, ŠKODA deliveries to customers rose by 3.2 per cent to 5,300 in October 2012 (October 2011: 5,100).

ŠKODA’s October deliveries grew strongly in China, advancing by 9.5 per cent year on year to a total of 22,900 (October 2011: 20,900). The brand has delivered a total of 204,800 cars in China in the first ten months of the year, equivalent to a year-on-year plus of 7.3 per cent (January through October 2011: 190,800).
